Saturn conjunct Jupiter: the Great Conjunction. What rules you?

Saturn conjunct Jupiter Image of King Arthur from the Ancient History Encyclopedia.

Saturn conjunct Jupiter, called the Great Conjunction, occurs once every twenty years or so. It lasts for around a month and due to its significant impact on the socio-political level, and especially on governance, it is known traditionally as the King Maker.

Saturn and Jupiter connect at 0’30” of Aquarius, on 21 December 2020, which is also the Capricorn solstice. However the two are already well within orb and will be until early January. During this time you will be able to see the two as a bright light in the night sky.

There has been plenty of commentary on the way Saturn conjunct Jupiter affects us as a civilization so I won’t go into that. Instead, I want to discuss how this major transit may impact you, if you happen to be one of those people whose natal chart is triggered by the transit.

Saturn conjunct Jupiter is associated with a change of governance and within the self this can enable us to recognise and depose false rulers, to see where something (or someone) has taken control of our life. Take a close look within and note any false rulers you see. Some examples may be:

  • Illness
  • Addiction
  • Anger
  • Jealousy
  • Fear
  • Ambition
  • A relationship you cannot let go of

All these things are natural and human. We all experience them. But do we want them to run the show? Are we willing to give up our agency and let these things dictate our decisions? Or do we want to take back the crown and declare a new sovereign? Personally, I’m using this transit to depose my own tyrants and reinstate my higher self, with its wisdom, compassion and power, as the rightful ruler of my life.

The theme of a new reign is further highlighted by the shift of Saturn and Jupiter from Capricorn to Aquarius. Check out my article on Saturn in Aquarius for details of this important shift and keep your eye out for an update on Jupiter in Aquarius in your inbox shortly.

There are a number of other important transits occurring this month, including a conjunction between Uranus and Black Moon Lilith and a square between Mars and Pluto, both of which are likely to be quite explosive. Check out my monthly forecast for a big picture perspective.

Will Saturn conjunct Jupiter affect you?

You will likely feel Saturn conjunct Jupiter strongly if you have planets or points between 27 and 30 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra or Cap) or between 0 and 3 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius). You may also feel it if you have planets or points between 27 and 30 degrees of the Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo or Cap) or between 0 and 3 degrees of the Air signs (Gemini, Libra or Aquarius).

The house through which Saturn conjunct Jupiter is passing in your natal chart, as well as the house of the natal planet or point that is triggered for you, will tell you which areas of life will be most impacted by this transit.

For example, in my case, Saturn conjunct Jupiter is transiting my 8th House and will square my 11th House Chiron at 1 degree of Taurus. This highlights the private versus the public self, and how fears of rejection and social disapproval can influence the way I present myself to others.

How are you experiencing Saturn conjunct Jupiter?

Like all major transits, Saturn conjunct Jupiter is an opportunity to ride the wave of change and experience the thrill of transformation. However if we struggle we’re more than likely to get dumped. How are things going with you? Are you able to surrender or are you fighting with life? I love hearing how you’re experiencing the transits. Please share your thoughts below.

  1. You seem to be getting over your fears of rejection and social disapproval…haha.
This seems to be a perk of getting older…i am 66 and i dont give a …but I CAN moderate not giving a flying ****
    I appreciate your work

  2. Ascendant late Sag. ( Also geocentric point )
Jupiter (chart ruler) at 1° Leo
    Venus 22° Capricorn

So eclipse of 14th December 2020 and Great Conjunction on 21st December 2020 AND conjunction of January 12th 2020 very active in my chart.

Diagnosed with breast cancer last week.
Seeing surgeons and oncologists this week.

The mutability of the eclipse ( also squaring that Uranus Pluto conjunction all of us have who were born in the late 60’s) makes me realise I just have to roll with the punches and be as adaptable as I can.
I tend to avoid alopathic medicine. I’m about to be hit with a chemical sh*t storm. CEST la vie. Grit your teeth and get through the storm. Mop up afterwards.

I’ve also had the great conjunction of January right ontop of my Venus at 22° Capricorn. Pluto on it all year. I’m a Ceramic Artist and have been very productive and creative all through Covid.

Aside from all the global, political, medical, pandemic shenanigans, I suppose this HAD to get personal for me.

We have all been living as though death could be inches away with the Covid 19 virus being so virulent. With my planets and angles being involved in the bigger hitting transits I have just magnified the little ‘c’ of Covid to the bigger ‘C’ of cancer.

Thank heavens the planets are in constant motion and that things will change. I hope to learn and to grow from this experience.

    • Most people like the hugest numbers recover from the Beer Bug.
Do not let negatives sway you, dont buy in to fear.
I wish you well with this latest hurdle.
      its just cancer, big deal….
I am not minimizing. I have mental illnesses and cope well without meds.
and if I die? good! cos there’s heaps more interesting people dead than alive.
Just my opinion for what it’s worth.

  3. Also I hope we can put Piscean escapism and avoidance behind us. I am guilty of this, but I hope my life will have changed significantly over the last 2-3 years. Improved. More realistic and less emotional overall.

  4. Jupiter Saturn conjunction transiting my 6th house squares my Moon at 0,56* Taurus in the 9th house. (MC Taurus 5*). It’s a bit scary because of the square aspect and all the emphasis given on this conjunction. Though nothing specific or major happening for me at the moment, i feel i’m on the threshold of life changing desicions. I’m trying to finish my PhD thesis until June 2021 and my boyfriend who lives in another country is asking me to move in with him after that. (He has his venus at 0 degrees Leo). I don’t know if the squares necessarily mean difficulty, or “caution”.? Thank you for your wonderful, clear, encouraging work.

The conj squares my Ascendent and sextiles my sun almost exact ….staying tethered to higher principles and not succumbing to transient outer fears is keeping me going forward…..sleeping a lot also helps….? and thank you for ALL your shares….invaluable

  6. 2 degrees from my Ascendant, on the 12th house side.
Big stuff, personal stuff, letting go, flying my freak flag, jumping out of the closet (so to speak, not in regards to sexuality but in regards to my personality).

  7. An epic time – the solar eclipse/new moon was conjunct my natal 8th house Saturn and the grand conjunction will be conjunct my natal 11th house Aquarian moon.
Looking forward to 2021 and the continued demise of the old structures.
Time to ? let the sun shine in ? ?

  8. Sextile my Midheaven…. hummmmm

  9. Saturn conjunct jupiter conjunct Aquarius midheaven….what now????
