A new Mercury retrograde cycle begins on 31 August, as the planet of intellect and communication separates from its conjunction to Venus and Jupiter. Mercury now heads back into its rulership of Virgo to join Jupiter for a second time on 1 September. However while the first conjunction lasted just one day, due to Mercury’s slow pace at this point of its cycle, it will now remain conjunct Jupiter for four days.
With Mercury retrograde in Virgo this is a time to examine the details of our plans and look closely at anything that could possibly trip us up if not addressed. It’s all about getting down to the nitty gritty, especially any area of our lives that may have been ignored or neglected while we were busy looking at the bigger picture. This is a great time to write lists, develop action plans and set priorities.
At the same time Mercury retrograde conjunct Jupiter helps us keep an open mind about how we go about achieving our organisational goals. It can can offer new perspectives on old problems that will enable us to develop innovative solutions. Jupiter is also our ally when it comes to communicating our ideas to others, who are likely to be more open and receptive to us at this time.
Open-mindedness will be essential as the Sun joins Saturn and Neptune in a t-square on 3 September, combining the introspective analysis of Mercury retrograde in Virgo with some good old fashioned facing up to reality. This t-square will force us to acknowledge where we have been a little idealistic in our vision and to look closely at what is practically achievable.
The Saturn-Neptune square perfects for the last time on 10 September. With Neptune still loosely conjunct the South Node this is life path stuff we’re talking about. Meanwhile, enjoy the delicious vibe of the separating conjunction between Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in Virgo, as the Moon forms a brief sextile from its rulership of Cancer today, 29 August. This is a lovely energy for relationships and relating and things can only improve in this department as Venus heads into its rulership of Libra on Wednesday.
