Astrology of November 2021: frustration to trust

The Astrology of November 2021 suggests a period where we may not feel that things are going our way and so jump into a decision that doesn’t quite meet our needs because we’re afraid the perfect outcome won’t eventuate. In other words we settle. The challenge this month is to hold out for what we really want. Have faith. Things will soon shift and by the end of the month there will be abundant opportunities to turn your dreams to reality.

The key transit of November is a t-square between Mars, and the ongoing square between Saturn and Uranus, which will likely make us feel stuck and frustrated, especially if your chart is triggered. Those with natal planets or points between 4 and 15 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) will feel this transit most strongly. The t-square is active for two whole weeks, from 7 November to 21 November.

This tense energy will be further activated in mid November by a partial lunar eclipse in Taurus, which will conjunct Uranus, squaring Saturn and opposing Mars. Emotionally driven decision-making motivated by insecurity, rebellion and impulse is likely for those whose charts are triggered. Outbursts, accidents and drama are even more likely for those whose personal natal planets are involved (think Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars). If this is you, ramp up your self-care and be sure to have enough regular exercise. Mars energy is very physical and needs a healthy outlet if it is not to manifest as aggression and bodily tension.

So, on to the astrology of November 2021…

The month begins with a New Moon at 12 degrees Scorpio on Thursday 4 November. Feelings are very deep during a New Moon in Scorpio so when combined with the frustrated energy of the t-square we could see some very deep resentments being expressed or insecure feelings such as jealousy and possessiveness. You may hear a voice that tells you ‘things never go my way’ or sense betrayal where there is none. Be careful of setting intentions during this energy. Do so with a clear vision or you may act on the emotions generated by the difficult transits, rather than your highest purpose.

On 5 November Mercury enters Scorpio, reinforcing the impulse to look deeper and explore darkness. On the same day Venus enters Capricorn, so there may be a tendency to withdraw into ourselves as we confront the unpleasant feelings and truths about ourselves that may have emerged with the New Moon. Later these placements favour a detached and objective approach to those difficult conversations we all have to have sometimes. Just be careful your words are not barbed!

On 10 November Mars squares Saturn. At this stage Mars is still 5 degrees away from Uranus. The energy feels stuck but there will be an increasing urge to break free of restrictions. Socially, within the context of the Pandemic and current pressures and restrictions, this is likely to manifest as social unrest, particularly as Mars moves towards its opposition with Uranus, exact on 17 November.

Mars is currently in Scorpio and our warrior isn’t afraid to fight dirty. Play with Mars in Scorpio as you would with fire! Combine it in difficult aspect to Saturn and Uranus and you get an explosion. This is an energy you’re going to want to deal with very carefully.

On 15 November the Sun squares Jupiter, a transit typically associated with rash decision-making, and with Mars about to oppose Uranus this will be very much accentuated. With Sun square Jupiter we are also prone to biting off more than we can chew. Beware of making promises you can’t keep and take things one step at a time. This is not the time for multi-tasking! Stay present with the task at hand until it is completed before beginning something new.

On 17 November Mars opposes Uranus. Those with planets or points within 9 and 15 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) are highly likely to experience impulse behaviours, either from themselves or from those around them. Recklessness may lead to accidents or regret. Do what ever you can to stay grounded and wait til after 22 November to make any big decisions, especially as the coming lunar eclipse will only make us more impulsive!

0n the 19 November the Full Moon rises at 27 degrees of Taurus, eclipsed by the alignment of the Sun and Earth. This partial lunar eclipse is the last lunar eclipse of 2021. The Moon is exalted in Taurus and if we can tap into the positive aspects of the archetype this can be a powerful and beautiful energy. However eclipses tend to hide things from us, blinding us. Instead of feeling secure in the grounded earthiness of Taurus we may cling instead to false securities: material possessions or possessive attitudes towards loved ones.

Thankfully the Sun enters Sagittarius on 22 November, followed close behind by Mercury on 24 November. This positive shift happens just as Mars moves on from Saturn and Uranus. The heavy soul-searching and angst of Scorpio, overlaid with the tension of the t-square, makes way for the fun-loving exploration and adventure of Sag. We’ll feel a lot more light-hearted, and take things way less seriously! Enjoy this brief reprieve before Saturn and Uranus make their third and final exact contact in December.

Saturn and Uranus come back into each others orb on 29 November, moving back into square with one another. However on the same day Saturn trines Neptune, an aspect with the potential to guide us through the story waters of the Saturn Uranus square. It is associated with bringing idealistic visions into reality, with manifesting our dreams. It is also helpful with setting clear boundaries and staying grounded whilst staying true to our higher purpose.

Saturn square Uranus will be exact for the third time this year on Xmas Eve 2021. This is the defining transit of 2021 / 2022. If your chart is triggered observe yourself closely and listen for the inner voices of Saturn and Uranus. Saturn will be urging caution and a commitment to the status quo, likely through fear of change, while Uranus is a voice for spontaneity, sudden and often reckless changes of course. It prioritises personal growth over safety, security or ‘success.’

If you are experiencing this kind of inner turmoil you may be personally impacted by Saturn square Uranus. Those with planets or points between 3 and 20 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius), will likely experience Saturn square Uranus as internal conflict between the conformist part of you that wants to be accepted and liked by society, versus the part of you that says, ‘to hell with your expectations, I’ll do what I think is right.’

That’s all for the Astrology of November 2021. See you next month :)

  1. Thank you for the information. It’s going to be an interesting month. :)
I’m just wondering if it’s not sth else trining Neptune on the 29th and not Saturn?

  2. All this activity is triggering my own natal T- square:Saturn opposition Mars squared by Neptune in Scorpio and I am definitely feeling it. I shall be going very often to the gym. Haha Thank you for a beautiful article that has helped me put things into perspective. I shall wait for the storm to pass.
